Default Engine swap

I have a 2003 sportsman 600 and I was wondering how hard or if it was possible to find a used 700 motor from like a 02, 03 or 04 and swap it in. Nothings wrong with my 600 motor just want something a little bigger and I don't wanna get rid of my wheeler. If I could swap it without much trouble I'd maybe put some hot cams or something in the 700 to get as much out of it as I can. Just curious!

Engine mounts were basically the same on both. As far as your 600 electronics working ok on the 700?

Everything really I was just wondering what was the same and what's different basically. If it's a direct fit it can't be that hard, right? Hope I don't have to do a lot of cutting and splicing in the wiring harness

If I get the system for a 700 of that year would it take care of any wiring problems I'd run into? Just plug it up and go would be really nice

The kit for the 600 was Kokusan #2202603. For the 700 it was #2202602. I honestly don't know if the 700 kit would work on the 600 wiring harness and vice versa. If it did,I'd expect some rigging and no guarantee that it would run right. You're really getting into cross breeding to the extreme.

Well would the 600 harness plug into a 700 motor? Maybe I could keep all the electronic system 600 and just swap the motor, then get the 600 upgrade kit

Stator would bolt up to the 700 as well as the new cdi and new regulator on the 600 kit would work on your harness and hook up with no problems. The thing is I don't know if the ignitions are exactly the same on the 600 and 700 such as timing, electrical advance, etc. Probably will work, but there's always the unknown when doing this.

I know it's a long shot but do you know anywhere I could find that information? I have a feeling a dealer wouldn't be any help
