Then the switch is stuck/frozen. Fluid pressure triggers the switch contacts.Over time the contacts can stick.. Install a new one. I just used 80/90 gear oil if my drum of Angle drive fluid was empty and waiting on a shipment from Polaris.Same stuff..

Ok cool, thanks. But the whole pulling left or right thing sometimes is normal? I will take off the switch tomorrow if I can and see if i can replace it with ease. It just looks hard because its a tight spot and it looks like there is a plate separating the switch from the block.

Every now and then if one side locks up,then yes. Some would do this first thing on a cold day,but work ok as the fluid warmed up. If it's a constant pulling, backing up and then going forward doesn't help unlock the hub, then it's time to tear into the hubs. If you can live with it,fine.

As far as brands of 75 or 80/90 gear oil, take your pick.So many good brands out there. Amsoil,Mobil1,Belray,Motul,store branded oil, etc. https://www.google.com/search?q=75-8...%2F90+gear+oil

Sorry, my work schedule has been hectic. Anyways, I ordered my switch so thats waiting. While I wait I wanted to know how to replace the spark plug and what the best plug is for this thing. While I do that I will spray the carb with some carb cleaner.

Ok, I will order the manual. I also saw something that caught my eye. My wheels are all 12" when my '99 model had 10" in rear and 12" in front. I had the Goodyear Tracker P tires which I love the look of with black wheels but now I have the goodyear rawhides all on 12" wheels. I like the black wheels with the tracker Ps better with the 10" rim. I want to know if I can put the 10" rims in the rear with the regular 12" in the front without messing up anything in the AWD system. I just love the look of the Tracker Ps.

Won't hurt the awd as the 2002 Sportsman had an option of 10 or 12 inch rear tires.2002 Polaris SPORTSMAN 500 ALL OPTIONS (A02CH50) Rear Wheel Drive All Options | Cycle Parts Warehouse
