Default Air Filter - Oil or no oil?

Have a quick question, 2004 Polaris Predator 90, air filter.

On all other ATV's I have the air filter gets lightly oiled. However on this Polaris I have read in the maintenance manual that you just wash and dry the filter and place back in the box. Why doesn't this filter get oiled? Is it because it has two elements already on it?

Manual just says to wash and dry the filter and grease the lips of the air box. I didn't always go by what the manual says.. I lightly drizzled a little foam filter oil on the outer section of the filter and worked it in. Didn't have any problems doing that.
