hello all, its my first day here and I need some help. a few days ago I bought a 2004 sportsman 400. while doing research into it, it might be a 2004.5. mine has the inline shift and electric fuel gauge. I want to add bumpers and a rack extender to it. so, do I order for 2004 sportsman or 2005? and is there anything else they changed for the 2004.5? thank you

 

Check to see if you have the regulator up by the radiator or the ecm module under the panel beneath the head light pod.Ecm models were considered to be 2004.5 models if I remember correctly. As for parts,if you have the 2004.5 just order for a 2005 model.Item#27 is the location of the ecm.Plus the AQ model was considered the 2004.5 model and had the awd in the front differential,not in the hubs.
