I took this in to a Polaris dealer. They had it for about 5 weeks. They cannot figure it out either. They said when the key is off there is .2ohm of resistance at ground. When the key is on they get 2 ohms of resistance. When the headlight is turned on it is 12 ohms. They think it might be the speedo, but they said there is no way to check it except to replace it. I am going to pick it up and today. Any ideas?

If a speedo was causing any sort of problem simply unplugging it should have eliminated it. If still no spark plus this is the second stator if I remember correctly, have you replaced the cdi? Can't remember back through all your posts.

Stator is brand new. They put a new cdi in and it didn't matter.

Here's one similar to yours in that he had a new RM stator, cdi and still no spark. Turned out the stator exciter coil was bad even though new. Red to green should show around 1.6 ohms resistance,black/red to green should show around 446 ohms. If either of these are past the +/- 10 % allowed that can cause the no spark also.Might be worth it to check."Just wanted to update this thread concerning my issue of it having no spark. I had the "new" RMStator tested and the results were that the charging coil was bad. This was after 10 minutes of running with this stator. I then ordered a New OEM Pure Polaris stator and put that in and it runs like a top now. It had spark right away. I guess trying to save a few bucks on a stator was the wrong way to go." If you've also replaced the ignition coil, grounds are secure, and have even pulled the black kill wire from the cdi to eliminate the switches, that's about all that I can think of. I've also heard that a flywheel itself could cause ignition problems like this, but haven't ever encountered one that did.

I'm pretty sure it is not the stator. We tried 2 new ones.

2 stators, new cdi, coil. Plus have you checked/replaced the regulator? These can sometimes interfere with ignition if faulted. It,the wiring harness, ignition switch and left control switch are about the only things left you haven't replaced.

I have not checked the regulator--are you talking about a voltage regulator? I should not have 12 ohms of ground resistance when the headlights switch is turned right?

Simple thing to do is unplug the wires to the regulator and see if you have spark either with the cdi kill wire hooked up or disconnected. If you eventually need a new one, these are cheap on ebay or amazon.Part #4060173. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rectifier-R...pTmdAL&vxp=mtr

I picked this up from the shop on Saturday. They couldn't figure it out. They installed a new stator because the wires were chewed up on the one that was in there. When I took it in there was no spark. It was turning over but no spark. This morning I went to take it off the trailer. For the heck of it I tried to start it. It won't turn over now and smoke was coming from the recoil pull. What did they do?

Smoke coming from the recoil cover.. Not good no matter what the shop did. Short some where that could have taken out another stator. You'll just have to pull the cover and flywheel and trace wires back up to the cdi.You may get lucky and it could be starter burnt up causing all the smoke.
