starter solenoid clicks but starter does not engage. where do I start to look ??? Thanks

 

Good connections and also the battery would be the first things to eliminate. Most people overlook these. Batteries may show 12+ volts fully charged but under a load test if it drops to 9.5 volts or less, the battery is toast. Here's a good article on this especially how to load test a battery.https://www.batterystuff.com/blog/ho...ry-is-bad.html If the battery is eliminated as the problem then check with a meter or test light that voltage is jumping from the battery side of the solenoid to the starter cable side. If there isn't power to this side then the solenoid is more than likely the problem. If you do have voltage leading to the starter then it could be as simple as removing the red cover on the starter,loosen the 10mm nut,turn the cable around a little to remove any corrosion,then tighten the nut. If that doesn't work then sounds like the starter needs replacing. Jumper box may help if the battery is down,but you really need to load test the battery to eliminate it as the problem area. Plus check that all connections are tight and no corrosion. Once running make sure that the regulator is charging 14-14.5 volts back to the battery at an idle.
