another question for you OPT. If the hall effect speed sensor is still magnetic when 4 wheeler is running, should it be working? I just found that weird.

Same principle of operation as the pickup coil and the interrupter tab on the flywheel. The slots on the brake rotor cause the sensor to send a pulsing signal to the speedo to register speed and mileage whether in 2 or 4 wheel drive. Has nothing to do with the awd system.

I understand its not dealing with the awd system. I was just asking a different question on this thread about the speedo...should it be working if when it has voltage going to it, its magnetic?

The speedo always has one wire that has voltage even with the key off and that'a red memory wire. Key on,yes the speedo has display voltage going to it. It takes the info from the hall effect sensor for speed and mileage and displays it,that is if the sensor hasn't shorted out like so many of them have done.

Changed the hall effect sensor and got the speedo working again. Now for the front diff work to fix the 4x4 issue...

Alright OPT, I have the 700 back together with a new roller cage and rollers, and a new armature plate. Went for a ride and tried awd several times and it absolutely WILL NOT lock in. I have 5 ounces of demand drive fluid in it and have 10.5 vdc to the coil in diff when energized. I even tested on the bench to make sure coil is magnetizing the plate when energized and it is. HELP!

Jump the awd ground wire in the speedo connector(brown/white) to a brown or better ground outside the connector. This bypasses the speedo for the awd ground path.If you still have problems jump the diff ground wire to a better ground location and see if that helps. People have had to do that on the hub coils also to get them to activate.
