Went down to my dealer for parts for my 400HO this week and got kicking ideas around with the owner and he showed me a leftover '07 in the warehouse that he wants to get rid of...he offered it to me for $8600 (US) with Loc & Ride Sport roof and rear cargo box. As I REALLY wasn't in the market for any new ride at the moment, I hadn't given this much thought, but it REALLY is tempting! How good a deal is this, and is it worth it for a 2 year old "new" machine?

That is a really good deal. There really haven't been that many changes to them through the 2010 model. The only real issue with the older ones, was with the airbox. Quite a few (including mine) inhaled dust and had to be rebuilt. Polaris covered it under a voluntary warranty extension of 18 months. If the production date is before Sept 2 08 it qualifies for that extension. There were some improvements made as far as sealing, and a new bigger airfilter for the later builds. If you were to get it, I would insist they update the filter system.

Considering the new 2010's are sitting there with a 12-14 k price tag, that is a BIG drop in price, as long as the filtering concerns are addressed, it would be a great buy.

 

thanks guys for the info! I'm really torn between the fun of the RZR and the utility of the new midsize Ranger 400...I know the RZR would be much more fun on the trails then the Ranger, which would be a big chunk of the usage, but I can't overlook how nice the Ranger would be for hauling firewood out of the woods, plowing snow, and general chores around the acreage while still being capable on typical trails...they would end up being about the same money!

 

My Razor is great for plowing. I have the canvas cab with heater,don't evem need gloves. Love the ride

 

finally ended up with the Ranger 400, surprisingly good on the trails, and $700 less then the RZR.

 

Think the dealer would ship it for that price?

That is a great price! Just picked an 09 camo RZR overstock with a warn RT 3.0 winch out the door for $9700. Can't wait to hit the trails and looking forward to seeing how she plows with the tracks!!!

 

hey guys have to say I made the right choice! The midsize Ranger 400 HO is really amazing on the trails and hauls all the coolers and supplies on the club rides! MUCH sportier then the big Rangers! Interesting thing here is the Ranger400 HO is about the same size as the Yamaha Rhino, faster to 30 mph, faster top speed, bigger payload, and bigger towing capacity!
I know the RZR would have been a blast but I get the best of both worlds with the Ranger and the filter thing really made me nervous!
