Polaris Tracks or Tatous UTV
#1
I am looking into purchasing a set of tracks for my 2011 Ranger 800 and am having a tough time deciding between the two brands I mentioned. I live in Minnesota and will be using them spring, winter and fall. I will be using them mainly for ice fishing and playing around in the snow. I like the Polaris tracks except for the distance between the frame and boggy wheels...it seems like a potential area for ice build up if I hit Slush on the lake. The Tatous seem like a better choice....but I am hung up on the drop in speed. Any Info on either of these two track systems would be appreciated!!! Thanks for your input!

You mentioned one of the things that I've read in a number of reviews and rider's comments about the difference between the Polaris and Tatou tracks. The Polaris system is designed with very little speed drop and therefore, better fuel economy. The Tatou's cause you to lose a lot of top end speed and therefore, again, fuel economy. Talked to a guy out on the trails with the Polaris units and he said he was getting about 80% of his speed and economy.

I think my choice to go with the polaris tracks was a good one. What little build-up you get in the snow/slush is easily removed and doesn't hinder the ride/performance. Also, Moosehenden was right on the money with speed/economy. Top speed is almost double with the polaris tracks vs. tats. Either way you won't go wrong with tracks. Wouldn't trade mine for the world during our long MN winters!
