I am in the market for a side by side and am leaning toward the Polaris Ranger, however I recently had a 4 wheeler wreck coming down a hill in which it about killed me and I have a broken foot because my ride got into a skid and I could not control it. Question: Has anyone had any problems with the Ranger skidding down hill since it does not have the engine brake system that the Rhino has? This is my only concern with Ranger. Please help!

Just trying to be helpful. I don't own a Ranger so I moved the post to a section where there are Ranger owners. More likely for you to eventually get an answer than where you originally posted. You're welcome.

Thanks. I'm not much of a computer guy either. Do you think I should re-post question and put "Ranger engine brakes" or similar as topic instead of "wannabe"? I know u shouldn't post same question in different areas, but I'm not getting any hits, and this is important to me.

ive never needed any engine braking system. You could get one of those 4 point harnesses.

But the ranger seems to be more of a utility work machine more than a recreational machine. Bench seats vs bucket seats, better suspension/tires i beleive on the rzrs, and rzrs are going pretty cheap nowadays. Thats polaris' baby

Thanks, Redneck of KY. I just bought a farm and want something I can use for cutting/hauling wood, hunting, etc. but also go riding occasionally. BTW where in KY are u from, and what's the "tactical redneck"? I'm in KY, Northeast.

I'd leave it where it is. I can't change your title even as an administrator. If you can that might be helpful.

In low, slow, brake as needed, and you should be fine. Been on plenty of steep hills with my RZR and had no sliding issues. Ranger will be a better option over the RZR if you do mostly utility and some playing. For what it's worth, I do a lot of hauling/utilty/plowing with my RZR and it does great. Much more fun/comfortable when it's time to play.
