Default 4x4 not working in reverse

I have a 2011 ranger crew 500 that the 4x4 works in forward but not reverse. what should the voltage be at the front diff. and should there be a 4x4 indication on the dash when it is in 4x4?

Should show 12 volts. Resistance on the two wires should be around 24 ohms.Should show reverse and awd symbol on the speedo I believe. If it's not showing check the gear position switch connection. Located near the gear case shift lever. Retired when this model came out, can't remember too much. Best if you have a cheap manual that can help.2011 Polaris Ranger 500 EFI CREW Service Manual PDF Download

I have 12 volts and have gear indication but no AWD indication on speedo. The gear position connection is good, cleaned and put dielectric grease.

Problem could be speedo related and the manual has a connector pin test that can help narrow down the problem. Don't know if if you can by pass this speedo as you could on the atv models by jumping the brown/white to a brown. Since you have awd in forward range,by passing wouldn't help on reverse I'd think. Just look at the awd and speedo trouble shooting guide in the manual.

I bought the service manual. Thanks for that link. I will look that up. I am going to test the AWD/ Turf switch and make sure I have continuity at the hub coil, and check all the grounds. If that all checks out ok then it looks to be in the front diff..
