ok hears how you put a pull start on a sportsman 700
get the recail assembly for the Polaris Frontier Classic snowmobile (same motor), cut room out of your floorboard for it to fit and put these parts in

Yep, you would definately have to have a flywheel. The factory one has nothing for the recoil to get ahold of. Flywheel The problem would be finding one that fits the 700. It may be something that could be borrowed from another Polaris or maybe snowmobile also. Good idea though, I know alot of people have a hard time with not having a back-up starting system.

I've already resigned myself to carrying a light duty set of jumper cables. Honestly, even in cold weather a four cycle engine in good condition should start. The only trouble I've had was with my 400 two cycle in below zero weather (-15 F) we all know how much fun two cycle engines are in cold weather, the pull start saved me that time but it's pretty rare.

flywheel off the frontier snowmobile should work, also it shouldn't be any harder to start than the frontier snowmobile, its got the same engine so if they got it on a snowmobile and no ones complaining, i mean honsetly think about it...
