Sportsman 500 H.O. Vs. Vinson
#1
I recently went riding with a friend that had a brand new Polaris 500 H.O. good machine...no doubt about it however, we exchanged machines and it was immediatley obvious to me; the feel, ride and punch, etc. were all "different." It truly is a shame that "die hard" fans of Polaris, Honda, Yamaha...etc. are not taking a SERIOUS look at the Suzuki Vinson. This machine won best of class by many publications last year. Nothing wrong with the other brands...but the Vinson is simply superioir to any other brand in it's category. Pastor

I think the Pastor has been hitting the ceremonial wine a little too hard. Sorry, no way. That Sportsman will leave that foreign pos in the mud, on the steep hills or on the rocks. No comparison.

Predator 03...I really had no bias going into my comments. Before buying my first quad, I did my "homework" so as to make the right choice for myself. I did test drive the sportsman 400 and 500 H.O.'s. In fact I was fully prepared to spend my hard earned bucks on Polaris machines UNTIL I looked at the Vinson. People do have an immediate tendency to "stick up" for what they own or have always owned; I understand this. What I am saying is that I really didn't care who had the best all round machine...it just happened to be the Vinson. Where I live, in eastern washington your machine had better walk the walk and talk the talk....I found one. Thanks...Pastor

I went elk hunting out in eastern washington and didn't see any Vinsons up there on Clockum(sp) pass. I saw a lot of HO's 700s and Grizzlys, but that doesn't mean the Vinson would do well, just didn't see any. I guess it's tough standing alone in a crowd.

I'm happy you like your your new Vinson,
But a 3 wheel drive straight axle slower quad is not better in my mind.
Glad you did all that home work though.

Most of the guys that are hunting Clockum are all from Seattle....city slickers. No problem...we love em over here. Vinson has only been out there for 2 years. I did my homework before buying....found more ex-yamaha complainers than you can imagine. Thanks

that's why they make chocolate and vanilla.. different flavors for
different folks..
I've tried both.. I really like the design and looks of the vinson..it is
a well put together machine.. but for me and my hard earned dollars(
and big butt), I need true 4wd, and especially irs... glad the vinson
is working out for you pastor.. if I were a younger man carrying about
50 lbs less, the vinson would be a good choice if ride comfort was
not one of the most important things to me.. just can't beat irs on
a quad... I believe in the next 5 years , all utility quads will have
irs.. only sport quads will have the straght axle..imho....

Mega crash...appreciate the thoughts. my friend (who has a brand new 500 H.O.) and I "raced" up a gravel road...about 30% grade....guess who won hands down? Drive train, transmission and technical info. about all such IS important...however....nothing should take pre-eminence over PERFORMANCE. Thanks
