K&N filter let dirt through?
#2
Run a pre filter on it if you have any worries.I run one on my 425 and it seems to do ok.

Yes it will.Try holding your K&N up to the light, then do the same with a foam filter.Do as ftwflh recommended and it will help quiet a bit.I use to run K& N but after my rebuild i am going with a foam filter.Mainly because every time i get in from the dunes and clean my filter there is sand inside the filter.Hope this helps.

K&N filters which are properly cleaned and oiled (and dried), and pre-filtered, should do a fine job, if you want the most free flow.
Most people dont give a K&N filter the type of maintinence they require, and as a result, clog the airflow, which is opposite from what they are trying to achieve.
If I always rode in a dusty area,,,I would not use a K&N. Maybe if I was racing,,,,but not for general use.

Slip-ons. All kinds of riding. Works excellent with the proper jetting. Take the time to check the entire range, and you won't believe the difference in the machine.

Mine and a Friends K and N is passing dirt after paying close attention to maintenance. I also tried a K and N on a previous machine and did not find it produced as much power as good as a clean foam filter. I see Rath has a foam filter and I am calling tommorrow to get one! Once they start using K and N's on high output dirt bikes, I will consider retrying again. I don't want to give my new machine a steady slow diet of particles. If I can even see a little, there is alot going by that I can't see.
