Default play in steering

My 2000 325 2x4 magnum has slop in the steering and I am wondering if it is the tie rod ends. Is there a way to tell where the loosness is from? I can turn the handle bars when it is just parked and feel the play and slop in the steering. This wheeler has about 3000 miles on it. My 500 ho doesn't have any play in the steering.
Thanks Jim

Default play in steering

If it is setup like my 99 TB there is a plastic steering post bearing at the
bottom of the post. It probably has pop-rivets in it. They get loose. You
can get an aluminun steering post bearing from either HPD or Hotseat.

Hotseat

Have someone to shake the handlebars back and forth while you look under it at the tie rod ends and the popst bushing. You will be able to tell where the play is.
