???'s about jetting my 400 scram PLEASE
#1
I have a 2002 scram 400 4x4 X model and I have a billet premium head k&n filter + prefilter, hot seat
pipe & clutch kit, and 10 - 1" uni filters cut into the airbox + other accesories that don't effect jetting. I got info that a 270 main and 30 pilot was a good place to start but it is not working real well. I am running rich at about 1/4 throttle which is most noticable going up hill in the 1/4 throttle range. Air screw position. I was wondering if anyone could help with suggestions or info.

Yes, you can try raising it again, just keep an eye on your plug, if you have any symptoms of being too lean when rolling on the power in the 1/4 to 3/4 range, shut it off and drop the clip back down. You could also try turning in the air screw a 1/4 turn at a time and see if it improves. If it runs better with the clip at the top of the needle, you may need a leaner needle to get better response. Same goes with the pilot jet, If you have to go in more than say a 1/2 a turn, you could use a leaner pilot jet.

You can save yourself the time with the Uni-vents in the Scrambler/Sport airbox. RCR sells the aluminum snorkle if you don't want to make one. Then you cut back the stock rubber snorkle, and you can also open things up inside. Easy and cheap.

that why i like my dial-a-jet kit,are sure it is running rich?
make a spark plug test at 1/4 for 1/2 mile, shut off, check for proper color,270 with hot seat pipe is ok but 290 seem safer to start with, is the stock carb?

with the instructions for the hot seat kit it said to use a 250 main at the 0-3000' range and 40-80 degrees but then I put the premium head and air vents on also so I am trying to get it dialed in. the carb is stock.
