Recently my 98 Scrambler 400 underwent the all to famous cracking of the stock piston. Luckily the bore was saved and pretty much just cost me the new piston. After reading few past posts from other people on this forum that have already gone through the same thing, I decided to go with the Wiesco pistion. In the instructions with the pistion, they recommend drilling oil hole in the pistion for 2 stroke engines. Just curious if other have followed these recommended instructions or if for our machines, it is unnecissary?

My 2 trail bikes have wiseco in them, and I know the race bike had the poop run out of it all the time. None of mine are drilled and no problems. I would say if you want to and have the time do it. If not I wouldnt worry about it. Bubba

I have almost 3,000 miles on my Wiseco, and never drilled it.

It's by no means mandatory, just helps a bit. It's the little details.

I also didn't get any instructions with the piston, and didn't know you were 'supposed' to drill it until after I had it all back together, with almost 1,000 miles on it

My instructions said only if you had an exhaust bridge to drill it, since I didn't have one, I didn't drill it and no problems for me.
