hello all...just signed up on this forum..looks like some good info here. I just picked up an 03 scrambler 500.. It seems to be very light and manuverable...but then again im used to my sportsman 500.. The only complaint that i have is that I didnt care for the stock clutching..seems over revved all the time so i took out the stock 10wh primary clutch weights and installed heavier 10mh weights...now its much better no more 4000 rpm to go 10 mph..plus i didnt notice any drop in low end torque either.... The only real complaint I have is that i wasted 5 minutes of my life checking out the computer game "atv rally" that came with the paper work, its probably the most lame *** thing ive ever seen....If anyone else got one with their new purchase dont bother checking it out it majorly sucks ***..LOL

Hey, i got gyped. I just bought my 03 scrambler 500 2 weeks ago and i didn't get any free games. lol.
Hey crotchrocket, did you get the weights from your dealership or did you order them and how much did they cost? This is my first experience with polaris and and automatic so i am unfamiliar with the craracteristics of the machine. An earlier post had a link to the heel clicker web site that offers clutch weights. Does anyone know if their is much difference between the above mentioned weights and the heel clicker weights? any recomendations? So far i love my scrambler. I have been riding and older utility type for the last 6 years and i didn't realize that an atv could be so much fun. In two weeks i should be able to find out how the 4wd will work in snow. I hope you enjoy yours as much as i have enjoyed mine so far.

For robne68... I picked up the weights at the dealership for a 7.62 a peice they had them in stock. As far as the heelclicker thing...I called them and had a very in depth conversation with the guy. I can see some benefits of the heelclicker but the thing i didnt care for on those is that you have to do some filing on the balanced clutch to get the weights to fit and also the cost of $189 for 3 weights and 3 springs seemed a little on the expensive side. The 10mh weights worked perfect in mine....Lifterally before on mine I bet it ran 4500 rpm to go 10mph....now its about normal...2500rpm for 10mph. Just my $0.02....

I you want really good performance, get a complete clutch kit. I have the HPD aggressice clutch kit. It is $155 for new springs, weights, and a helix. It made a very big difference.in acceleration. It will wheelie like mad now. It was a worthwhile and highly reccomended improvement
