Have you cleaned your carb?? Check your throttle linkage as well. Something may be sticking.

Yep, like Rhonda said, also make sure the throttle cable (ETC) is adjusted correctly. If you have old gas, get rid of it. Check the oil pump adjustment and the choke adjustment. But... make sure the ETC is correct first.

I would recommend a repair manual, the owner's manual is not very detailed. The repair manual on the other hand, takes you step-by-step through a complete tear down and rebuild of the complete atv. It also includes troubleshooting almost all problems you could run into. It is a little pricey, but well worth it.

You can do it at home. If you have the plastic cover over your throttle housing then pop it off, loosen the cable jam nut, and adjust the cable until the contacts are held in by the tension of the cable. If you have a metal cover on the throttle housing, remove the 3 screws and adjust the cable until the contacts are not touching. You will have to look inside the housing and move the throttle a bit to see the contacts that I am talking about. Either way, after you have the correct adjustment, you should have a slight amount of play (1/16"- 1/8" at the end of the throttle lever) in the throttle before the engine speed increases and make sure by turning the steering wheel, lock to lock that you do not have the cable adjusted too tightly. Do this while in neutral with the atv running and if the engine speeds up while turning the steering wheel, then you have it adjusted too tight.

I think you can purchase one from PurePolaris or your dealer is also a good source for a repair manual.
