Bearclaws(do they increase steering effort?)

Does anybody have Bearclaws on there 4x4s and is the steering effort increased? Does it ride rougher? I am considering putting them on my 00 400 Explorer. Oh ya, does anybody know how much the 25inch tires weigh?

This was one of my concerns too. I just replaced the original knobby style tires on my '87 Honda Four-Trax with the Kenda Bear Claws.
This machine has always been hard to steer due to the full time 4WD and the solid front axle. Takes great effort and a football field to turn it 360 degrees. I was worried the Bear Claws would make it worse.
The surprise was the steering is noticably easier. The 4 ply Bear Claws are stiffer than the original 2 ply knobbies. The Bear Claws also have a line of ***** down the middle of the tire.
The new tires are quite a bit stiffer than the originals. I run them at 3 or 4 PSI instead of 5 PSI. The ride is not noticably stiffer.
Very, very happy with the Bear Claws.

They weigh about twice what your stock tires weigh. The steering effort felt about the same to me. What I really noticed was how much better my Xplorer handled after the Bearclaws. The stock tires are so flemsy that they layover a lot in hard turns and the handling feels like crap but with the Bearclaws it is a totally differant story. The handling is sooooo much better than with the stock ones.

I run bearclaws front and rear on my scrambler and they are much better turning in soft sand and on the hard trails than the stock *****. They seem to turn a tighter radius too, and when you push the 4WD button and head for the deep mud their all business.

I cannot tell you about the steering but I can tell you that the tire is great. I am going through mud and slop with my 2X4 that is getting my buddy's Yamaha 4X4 stuck with stock tires! The tires are aboout twice as heavy as the stock goodyears, but they are tougher than woodpecker lips.

WHEN I PUT THEM ON MY FOREMAN I WAS SURPRISED, THE STEERING EFFORT WAS LESSENED QUITE NOTICESABLY. BUT I WENT WITH 25X10X12 ON FRONT AND 25X12.5X12 ON BACK. I FIND THE BACK TIRES JUST TO STIFF SO I WOULD RECOMEND GOING WITH THE 10 WIDE ALL THE WAY AROUND. I THINK 11 WIDE WOULD BE PERFECT BUT THEY DON'T HAVE THEM. THERE A GREAT TIRE AND LAST WHAT SEEMS TO BE FOREVER COMPARED TO STOCK TIRES. HAVE FUN.
