If people are getting busted right and left for not having a permit sticker then that explains why the sherrif is there checking people. I don't understand why getting a permit to ride in a nice national forest is such a problem. If atvers want more land opened up to them then they need to be responsible and follow just a couple of simple rules like paying $5 for a permit.

The park service was looking at revising the land use policy at Wayne and they could just as easily say since so many atvers don't bother to buy the permit we'll just close the land off to atvers completely. They closed off Daniel Boone National Forest trails to atvs and they could do the same at Wayne. It would be great if all taxpayers could ride free of charge in the national forests but you and I know that isn't going to happen.

It sounds like you guys are responsible and buy your permits but it's the others that don't that are the problem. Get pissed at the cheapskate atvers that try to get out of paying their share if you want to get mad at someone.

Cross on over to WV where you can ride without stickers, permits, sound checks and any other crap.

i grew up in athens, i remember riding dirt bikes through the forest all the time. without any stickers or hassles. but that was a few years ago. if youre going to ride there a lot, the 20 dollar sticker is worth not getting into any pissing match with the law.
