What is the top speed on a new sportsman. I have a 2000 sp500 with 20hrs on it, and I am only able to do around 41-42.

I Have a 2000 Sportsman 500 i just got the other day and i have had it at almost 50 with two people on it with it barely working. It should be able to go 60 or better. Is it in low range?

I have a '98 SP500 and the fastest my GPS has recorded is 57 MPH. Just added the EBS kit to it. Now I can see for myself if it actually slows it down.

Never had my 2000 SP 500 over 44. Not concerned though, now it has 27" tires and HL lift kit, happier with all the places it can now traverse it could not when stock. Turning at higher speeds now is a little trickier because it is top heavy.

That is pretty funny Tim1. My buddy just bought a 250 Recon and thought he could keep up with me in a one mile drag race down a dirt road. After I finished a sandwich and a pop (I'm exagerating), he showed up at the other end grumbling about how damn slow that thing was. Back to the point, my 98 425 will do 53 on a road and 47 on a dirt road. Your machine should be doing around 55-60. I would have it check out.

grp,

With 20 hours it is barely broken in. The machine will loosen up as it breaks in further. At least that is the experience I had with mine. Don't beat it to death until it is well broken in.
