After reading Talonhawk's page about comparing times to get a better understanding on how much more you get out of your ATV with modification and or stock, we set out this Sunday to put it to the test.

We measured out 300 feet in a grassy field, the temperature was a cool 70 degrees with a slite wind.
We had five ATV's here this day,3 400sp,1 blaster,1 400ex.

Of the three 400sp.,one was stock, one has a clutch kit, carb and RCR pipe and the other has an HPD clutch kit and pipe.

The other two guy's are stock as well.

the TIMES;
400 Sport stock: 7.12 seconds
400 Sport RCR : 6.37 " " **
400 Sport HPD : 6.41 " "
400ex : 6.53 " " * **
Blaster : 7.32 " " * **
(the times were the average of three runs)
*those who had missed shifts
**those who had fronts come up

This was fun and superising to see that we only gained tenths of seconds,I would have thought atleast one to two seconds because mine really feels like it rips.
Well I guess, when it comes down to racing it's all about tenth of seconds.

Is there anyone else out there who has simular results please post them I'm finding this to be a real eye opener.

I'm glad to see that someone other than myself is testing there mods by timing them.

I,ve found that for the most part you can spend alot of money and get only a few tenths of a second gain in a measured run. So then you have to ask yourself, "IS IT ALL WORTH IT"

When it comes down to performance and whos pipe is better, who can really tell by seat of the pants. Only TIME will tell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Rictor774,

I have two trailblazers. One is a 99 and the other is a 00. The 00 is stock and the 99 has mods. The mods for the 99 are as follows.
ONEAL BARS
PRO MOTION TWIST THROTTLE
OIL INJECTOR HAS BEEN REMOVED ALONE WITH CONTAINER
K&N AIR FILTER
38MM TMX MIKUNI CARB
PORT & POLISH INTAKE
HPD TRAIL PIPE
DG SILENCER
HOTSEAT CLUTCH KIT
DAYCO MAX BELT
FOX REAR SHOCK
DG FRONT BUMPER
and I've cut about 1 1/2 inches of plastic off the front wheel wells.

There was only 5 tenths of a second between the stock 00 and the modified 99. I plan on racing the two side by side to get a difference in distance. It should be interesting to see how that turns out. I'll keep you posted!!!!!!!!!!
