I need to check my belt on my 325 magnum and i was wandering if it was as simple as taking off the cover or if there was something special i needed to know.

Just pull the cover off and you'll be looking right at it.

I am wondering why you need to check your belt ? What is it doing or is it for curiosity ? I replace my belt once a year for when i sell my sp 500 And have mesured the wear at the most i have measured at 1700 miles it was .40 Thousands not worth replacing. Just curious Also if you open the cover repace the seal for Insurance.

It has about 1600 miles on it and its set up for abot 6 months. I use it for work and drive it around 100 miles at the time and I wanted to make sure it was in good shape so I want be walking home.

The good thing about polaris belt is that they aren't that expensive. A new one can go around $45. And you can notice the difference if you need a new one.

You can buy a Dayco-Max belt for $37. They are supposedly a lot better.

I have a 98 SC500 asked my dealer the same question. They said my belt on visual inspection should be about about 1/8th to 1/4" above the diameter of the driven (rear) pulley. Flush might be OK for a while longer. Down inside the pulley should be replaced. Mine was deep (3/8") down inside the pulley. Maybe a 1000 hard miles wheelies, deep mud, pulling people out etc. Replaced with OEM belt big difference in performance. The dealer also recommended scuffing the pulley surfaces with fine sand paper 320 or scotchbrite pad to remove glazing. My cover was a little difficult to remove and replace a tight fit between the floorboard and fenders. I also recommend using a thick grease (wheel bearing ) to hold the seal in place during installation of the cover also will aid in water proofing.
