Default Pred vs YZ 250 dirt bike

I dont know, but are Dirt bikes faster then quads? I was just riding In the sand of a River bed and it seems like this YZ 250 was toasting me and he was in 4th.. Im assuming im Just not a good rider because Ive only been riding for A little bit. Or do 2 stokes have a addvantage in the sand Or what? I was very disappointed i wanna race him again in straight dirt

Oh it was like a 5 mile stretch just dropping the Hammer he had to stop to let me keep up.

If your in the dunes, You should have the advantage. But in a sandy river bed a dirt bike would
be hard to keep up.

I ride with 3 other people. One of them rides a stock 01 DS650. The others both ride YZ125's, one is a 95(6 speed) and the other is an 03(5 speed). All 3 of them raced for top end on a dirt rode. The 95 YZ125 came in first followed by the DS650 and then the 03 YZ125. Just for comparison.

A 500 4 stroke quad will never be able to hang with a 250 2 stroke bike in any type of drag. It's not because your a bad rider, he's just faster.

First, consider that he has a total dry weight that is less than half the dry weight of the pred. The power to weight ratio isn't even funny with dirt bikes. But quads are just so much fun!!

So well the Dirt bike Accelarate faster and have a higher top end? So where could i race him and beat him out you think like maybe a MX course? well the Preddy have the advange with Handling on a MX or the dirt bike a better machine for racing all around?

I was Disapointed because ive heard somemuch good about the Preddy then This 10 year old dirt bike just takes off and there aint nothing i can do about it.

Race him in the sand without paddles, or in the mud. You should have an advantage there because if the extra traction.

You could probably take him head on in a game of chicken. Doh! Sorry about that.

Time for another lawyer's disclaimer (also known as don't be stupid and think my jokes are serious). Don't play chicken...unless you are no where near a quad or bike....and maybe if you're dressed like the Sandiego Chicken...that's safe. Hmmm, whatever happened to da chicken anyway? Was it a rooster or a hen? Good grief, what was the question.

You guys need to race dirt bikes more. My modded Z will eek out a 97 KX250 with a pipe and stay right with a stock 03 CR250 on a flat stretch. They kill me in the rough stuff, but just running them from any gear on a road you can stay with them with a strong running quad. I try and race where we get pretty good traction so it's not a spinning the tires issue, it's a power issue.
