Default Trail Boss Problem

I finally got my 87 trail boss running, but now when you go to put it into gear it just grinds and wolt go in. I am starting it in neutral and then trying to shift out of neutral. I never had a automatic or Polaris before, am I doing anything wrong or is there something wrong with the bike. If so what?

It may just have some bent or out of adjustment shift linkage.

Take a look and see if it is working properly. (engaging the tranny fully)

Hopefully it is not a gearbox.

Also, if your idle rpm is too high, it will cause the same problems.

Try starting it in forwards that will tell u if it is in the tranny but it sounds to me that your idle is to high just turn the idle down on the carb. I had the same problem on a 96 trailboss.
