any experiences with clogged radiators on the sportsmans ??
#1
Am I the only one who can't figure out why still to this day, polaris insists on placing these radiators on the sportsmans so low in the front chassis that it's a given that any attempt to do a little mudding will result in the radiator getting plugged and no good way to clean it out. My '02 500sp has all it's front steel screens fixed so I can't really somewhat easily get in there and do something about before things start to overheat and cook ( which is starting to happen more and more). Seems like they could also go to a more rectangular type unit that would be wider but not as tall so it could stay up higher, but still have the same surface area working for it. Tell me what you think. When I look at other brands, they seem to do a better job of keepeing it higher. I just got a new '04 600sp and I'm getting ready to start the whole problem again with this one. Give me your ideas on how you've handled this issue, especially while on vacation out on the trail, staying at a cabin, etc. Thanks.

Bring and air hose attachment with an extension for easy reach and just blow out the radiator from the back when the mud has dried. If you use a pressure washer, you can risk bending fins. My Old man's xplorer 400 has the same problems too, but just blow it out with air real good and it cleans up nicely.
