Was wondering how long a set of stock tires on a 99 Sp500 will last, how many miles does it take to justify throwing them away and buying some mudd runners. At a little over 400 miles on it the fronts though they still have a lot of rubber on them, they look like they will go out way before the back ones.

 

Funny you should say that, I went about 600 miles with the stock Dunlops on my Suzuki Quadrunner 500 before I got tired of the perpetual flat tires and got the GY Mud Runners. Very pleased with them, have almost put 500 miles on them, the nubs are barely worn off. I have a set of Dunlops in the barn that look brand new, but 3 of them now require tubes. The GY's are a little too agressive for the sand, and it gets hard on the clutch and my upper body so i plan to maybe buy some cheap rims to put the stock ones on.

 

Before I bought new tires I'd get my front end alignment checked. I had over 2,000 miles on my 98 Sportsman tires before I got GY's and they still had about half tread left.

 

A friend of mine is riding a 99 SP he has a little over 2500 miles on his goodyears, I have a 99 Suzuki Quadrunner and I have a little over 2400 miles on dunlops, also running with 2 tubes in mine, but we both are running on some thin rubber.

 

Thanks for all of your replys! From what i have read on here mine will dry rot before they wear out. Bought the 99 SP500 new (it has the stock GoodYear Tires on it) and it looks like about 500 miles a year is all i am going to get on it. At least the first year anyway. Got to get out there and ride.....mabey quit working.....na..just cut out some overtime. How well do ya like the GoodYear MR's (mudd Runners)?
