'99 Sport High-Altitude Jetting ?

Wondering what the stock jet sizes are in this thing? Once I hit 4000 feet I start losing power, and by the time I hit 5000 feet, I have to be very easy on the throttle and have NO power. It starts easy enough though. ALSO, WHERE WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE TO GO TO LEARN ABOUT JETTING? I have no idea what I'm doing thus far, so haven't touched a thing. Ideally, I would like to ride from 2500-5000 without a problem, but seems like too wide of range.

Dealer should be able to help you,sounds like your jeted for sea level.3000 ft range isn't to much.I jet mine for 6to9000ft if you go above or below no problem.Talk to local quad mechanic they can explain it to you it's not brain surgery, real simple.CM

Thanks, CHICKENman. Does anyone have any recommendations on jet sizes to try if I install a Unifilter and want to jet for 3000-5500 feet or so? (The lowest elevation we ride is approximately 2500 feet.) Everything else will be stock.

To be honest with you, the manual really sucks and speaks in too many generalities. 90% of it is warning labels. I need to pick up a more detailed manual. Perhaps one comparable to Haynes or Chilton's for autos. It would be real cool to have a chart for those sort of things.

The chart on my 2000 scrambler 400 2X4 is just on a separate piece of paper, kind of like a supplement to the manual. I believe stock is a 230 main (going from memory here). For your elevation you could probably run 200 main and drop the needle one position. I'll have to try and remember to look at the chart tonight to give you a better answer. Or you could ask the dealer to make you a copy of a new one.

I called the dealer. Yes, the factory setting is 0-3000 feet with a 230 main jet. He said if I went to a 210 main and 1.5 turns out on the airscrew I would be good from 3000-6000 feet. I am going to buy a 210 and carry a 215 just in case the engine gets too hot. I will definately call them for the jetting/clutch specs.
