Does anybody have a Fram number to replace the Polaris oil filter?

A 6607 or a 7317 will work. The only difference between the two is, the 7317 is longer.

Is there any risk to using a non-polaris filter ?

Daboss,

No, no harm in using a filter other than Polaris, as long as it is compatible with the Polaris one.

Yes! Your dealer won't make as much money and may not be able to buy that new bass boat.

Wix part # is 51358. The same filter fits many Honda motorcycles, but have found that a Wix and the Honda is priced the same or more than a Polaris. I have seen cutaways on lots of filters and I would not recomend the Fram. Very poor construction.

hooligan,
I also run a different brand oil filter than the Polaris piece...
If you have access to a Deutch brand filter in your area. the # is D371.. its better quality than the Fram Filter... and I buy them from AutoZone for 2 for $5.00....
HERE IS SOMETHING INTERESTING I FOUND ON THE HONDA THREAD!!!!...

This proved to be VERY interesting....

ya know what really pisses me off is the fact one of the reasons I bought the Polaris is that it is built in the states. I know it's not 100% USA (what is besides me) and I know the engine is built in a plant not of this country, but it does employ US workers, and it is on US soil but this oil filter I hold in my hand says made in Tiawan on the box. And the Polaris dealer gets $9.75 a copy??? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!! Thanks for all your input. I would rather pay the same price for the Fram or the Wix than send more of my $ off shore. Sorry for the rant, thats just me, I could be wrong.

Ask any farmer friend to get you a Baldwin #1400, fits the 500 engines. Largest filter maker in USA. Farmers use Baldwins on there tractors and equp. A quality filter for $6.
