You got water on the clutches/ belt. It happens. It seems when I go in deep water or mud, they nevr get wet, but you hit a shollow puddle just right and water get injected through the Clutch cover breather tube.

Anybody got an easy fix?

If the puddle splashed you really good, it probably got into the belt drive and your clutch belt got wet, which causes it to slip until it dries out. If your belt gets wet, you can put it in neutral and rev the engine to force out the water...or some of the newer polaris quads now have a drain plug on the clutch cover for that purpose. Sounds like you just ingested a little water and it dried up.

i have that problem all the time it will like bog out if you keep hitting the gas when u get water in the clutches its a pain in the a** to wait for it to dry when your ridin with a yz250 with pipe, filter, reeds, and tons of carbon fiber parts.

if you get in to water with silt, it will act like soap and the belt will slip. I've gone thru streams and played in clear rivers with no problems, but if you stay in to long the fine sand will get in and make the belt slip. remember the clutch housing is not a sealed unit. I also dilled a hole in my cover and put a old small battery cap as a plug. oh, by the way, this does make your clutch parts rust.

I am thinking of fabricating some sort of plate to act as a splash sheil in front of the opening. Why Polaris would have allowed that to begin with in the position is beyond me.

If you get muddy water in there it is a good idea to take the cover off and clean off the clutches to keep things from rusting in there
