I guess parts will break when you start jumping those 450lbs tanks though! Sorry, but for the money, I'll take the yfz's rezzies and the 75lb weight savings. For all the hype I've heard about preds on this forum, I have yet to see one do didly squat at the races. I doubt I ever will.
LOL, yeah, you are one to say someone isn't the brightest crayon in the box. Little trouble with numbers there Rid? For one, the pred weighs 415 lbs, not 450 lbs. And the weight difference is 65 lbs, not 75 lbs, c'mon now.

If every quad should be capable for speedshifting, then why even put a clutch on them? Why not just undercut the gears and put an air shifter in them. Now you can speedshift all you want.

And the bent shift forks in the trannies only happened to a few people that were speed shifting, which shouldn't be done anyway. We have yet to see how the YFZ holds up on the track in the long run, and after a bent a-arm on a BRAND NEW machine, it looks skeptical. I might also add, that Polaris replaced the frames and trannies, don't count on that from Yamaha. Do the 01 Raptors ring a bell? $1000 for new gears that Yamaha wouldn't cover even after they new they had a problem. Im not nocking the YFZ, but don't come on here and try and act like you have the most bad azz machine out there. It has still yet to prove itself in reliability in the long run. Only time will tell
Ya punk. Everything BigBadScrambler says! You go boy

Ridley....your killing me man....just because you have buyers remorse doesn't give you the right to come into a Predator forum and run your mouth...who's sand box are you playing in anyway. You are a total A-hole like 90% of the other Yamaha riders who come in here and talk smack about the Predator...if it sucks so bad, why are you SOworried about people riding them??? If your bike is so great, then go to the track and RIDE THE DAMN THING!!! Just because you talk about never seeing a Predator at the MX track, doesn't mean they'er not there. Ever think that they are just crossing the finish line before you ???? If anyone ever races in ASSLAND, please stop at the finish line and wait for this TOOL to finish so that he can see a Predator up close and personal......finally, karma is a bitch and you just might find out that your precious YFZ has a few bugs...and hopefully their will be a Predator around to pull you back home......now I'm going to go RIDE my bike and enjoy being the Predator...not the prey

If Ridley didn't like the Predator he wouldn't be over here reading about it. He is a child who probably doesn't even have a quad. And if he does have one, its obvious he wished he a bought the Pred instead.

HEY, HEY, HEY easy now GEEZZZ! Unless I am in the other 10% then it's cool

As for the quads of choice, four strokers are four strokers, they are all nice... The Predator, Raptor, DS650 and the YZF450 are all right neck and neck with each other. Some have better handeling some are wide and ride smooth, some are brute torque and some play the jack of all trade master of none.

Ride them all, plan for where you ride and most of realize no matter what anyone says on some internet chat room it's your money. Pick the quad that makes you smile everytime you ride....

Personally, I went with the SHEE. Longevity and the feel of two stroke did it for me. When the power band hits and hurts my shoulders from ripping out from uner me... BAM instant smile. But that's me and I compramissed a lot for a 2 stroker, kick starting sucks, lights suck, suspension isn't the best, but no matter who cry's on which bored when the power is on, so is my smile. Plus racing four strokers and blowing past them for 1,500$ I have in my shee is priceless

Nicely stated Watz. We all have our faves, pick your's. And for the running off mouth Ridley, for my choice the $2000 or so I saved with bying the Predator, Pure Polaris sells some really nifty front shock rezzi's. Had them installed, and did a little trick a helpful Polaris elf told me, and wow, now I have 11" of front suspension travel. What's the front suspension travel of your beloved 450? Just happen to have a spech sheet here, that would be 9.1" Wow! That's almost 2" less. Now when we move to the rear of the two machines, we find the 450 has 10.1", and once again the Predator has 11". Hmm, want to talk about any other suspension "superiorities" that the 450 has? Maybe we could move into the steering department. The Pro steering on the Predator reduces rider fatigue by incredible amounts, just try runnin' a 2 hour harescramble and you'll witness it for yourself....or do you limit yourself to drag racing?

As a disclaimer to other 450 loyalists who don't feel the need to shoot your mouth off before you think, I apoligize. The consumer is really benefitting with all these great machines on the market.....psst, and Ridley, don't think Polaris is done yet, cause that crystal ball has been very busy. Ride what you like, and I hope the product you choose is backed as well as Polaris has backed the Predator.

Hey Watz,
Read the whole sentance, it sounds a little different.

You are a total A-hole like 90% of the other Yamaha riders who come in here and talk smack about the Predator...
I don't think he meant 90% of all Yamaha riders, I believe he was just talking about the ones coming over to the Polaris forum to talking smack.

Non-predator owners on this thread are to be applauded if they have actually purchased a YZF. This is an awesome machine. A little work on a predator can make it better but ya gotta like the YZF. With that said, why blast the predator if you don't have the sack or money to buy the only better machine..a YZF? I have a predator and run some MX and despite my lack of skill, I can get top placings. If some one is in front of me it is never near stock or anything you could build close to a preds' price. With the intro of the YZF the predator will be the trail race or big bore MX'er. I probably have $6500 in my pred with shock mods, pipe, carb/airbox mods. I also widened it to 50" and riding my suspension compared to something like a cannondale Moto 440 is much better especially past 40 ft airborne. With that said, due to the extra weight the pred needs about 60 HP to rock. Pipe/airbox/carb mods should allow it to hit close to 50 Hp at the rear. We need the engine kits to start comming out. HPD has all but cams, Hot seat has a great 600 kit and Duncan, Trinity, ect are still production/development. Labor will be about 8-10 hrs by a good mechanic + kit cost. THe guys with 580 kits doing ok? HPD's got a 550 kit that looks awesome.
