Default Rear Propshaft

Howdy all,

Anybody replaced the u-joint on the Rear Propshaft of thier Quad. Partsland's breakdown shows it as an assembly including the shaft itself. Don't want to spend $100 for a $10 U-joint.

Thanx,
Brian

A little more info would help, for instance, what quad are we talking about? Is it the inner or outer u joint. I'll take a guess and assume we are talking about the Sportsman (I said that cos that's the only quad u joints I know about). The rear outer u joint is a NEAPCO 1275 off hand I cannot remember the inner u joint part#. Anyway the 1275 can be purchased from your local bearing supplier for cheap. For example P price here is $75 CAD whereas the bearing supplier charged me $12. I did get a decent discount so you might pay a little more but still way cheaper than P.

Thanx for the reply Traildog. Your right I should have given a few more details. I am refering to the driveshaft. It is called a propshaft in the parts breakdown, and its for the straight axle Xpedition. We do have a bearing supplier around here, so I'll get it out and see if they can reference it.

Thanx.
Brian

I took the bad universal joint from my 700 to a Auto Parts store ans they mached it up in 5 mins.
Only cost $8.99. Poalris wanted $29.95 and that was the "good price".

You need a Spicer 5-170x u-joint.
