I am helping a friend get an old 250 tb running again. he lost his stock pipe so no pipe till he gets his rcr kit. so would it hurt it any to run it with no pipe at all. other than ear plugs what problems might we run in to if any?

Do NOT run it without exhaust becuase there is no back pressure. Basically, the valves can burn up, especially if they are stock valves.

Just wait and you willbe glad you did.

 

I would think that the running it with NO pipe would make the engine run WAY to lean which would cause your piston to melt. Also, you would have no power cuz the pipe is what helps to make the power on the 2-strokes. Plus, you need some backpressure

 

thanks for the quick answers! were working right now actually we ran it in nutral for about a min. for one its just too damn loud and second how yall said its bad for the engine I think we will wait thanks a bunch we were planing to go for a quick ride that way.

 

It is very bad for the engine to run without an exhaust. It will run way to hot and burn up a piston. BTW there are no valves in a 2 stroke

Too many years working on desiels and high performance engines.

Regardless, if it were a 4 stroke with stock valve, it would burn them.
