pipe question
#1
I am looking to put a new pipe on my 2002 scrambler 500 and have been told that HPD makes the best ones for Polaris. A buddy of mine recently bought a Banshee with Toomey pipes on it and it sounds mean. I was wondering if there is anything made for a 4 stroke Polaris that will give me a good sound and more horsepower? On the HPD website it says their powermaxx pipe is rated at 90db's and I was wondering how much louder and more powerful this is than the stock pipe and what is a good db level to shoot for without the neighbors calling the cops everytime I start it up? Whats the stock db level on a 2002 500 scrambler?

hey caddy your 4-stroke will never sound like your buddies shee but im sure you can make it louder if you want to..im guessing stock db level is somewhere 85-90..hpd is a very good company for polaris and the pipes they sell for your machine will give it more power for sure but for the sound let other help you on that ive never seen any piped 4-stroke scramblers so i dont know..you live in worcester huh?any good riding there?this weekend is the worcester nationals right?if my scrambler wasnt in the shop id be there,i think it would be so fun to be able to drive your atv all around the city and have burnout contest on main street next year ill go for sure..that only happens once a year right?oh yeah if you really want more power for your 500 get a pipe, filter and a clutch kit that will wake it up a little, hope this helps..

The pipe for the scrammy is actually 93db. The one for the sportsman is 90db. The pipe has a nice "potatoe potatoe" sound when idleing. It definately deserves it "thumper" name. At wide open the pipe is loud enough. It just roars. I don't know if they make a louder pipe that that? But, it will never sound as good as a DS650 or V-force with high performance pipes. There a a noticeable increase in low and mid range power, but you need to get the aggressive clutch kit to really see any gains. Next Saturday I plan to go for my first ride since I installed my airbox/carb mod from HPD. This should also make a difference too. But a K&N with outerwears is a good improvement too.

Ya, the nationals only happen once a year, I thought they usually went down on the 4th of July, but they also do another show towards the end of the summer. I havent found any good palces to ride around here except for the power lines near Upton, MA and there is a good spot down off of 95 in Rhode Island. I got a park at the bottom of my street where I ride when I get bored, but that gets old after 5 minutes. I cant wait for the first big blizzard, so I can hit the street w/o the cops coming after me. Let me know if you find any good spots, I know a couple of guys around here with ATV's.

Are the trails you ride on people's property or are they public land. I am itching to find new places to ride, if you could give me directions to the spots you find I would appreciate it. Thanks.

most of my riding is on the old railroad beds, plus there is alot of powerline riding and then the town owns about 100 acres of riding trails we use to be able to ride all of it but now they are putting a cemetery in on one side so we kinda have to stay away from there,no biggie still lots of riding..we ride in a state park alot also which is mostly old dirt roads gated off,we arent suppose to ride there but most everyone ride through anyhow..are you familiar with this area?
