Default what could it be???????

I know about the "backlash" that our 700's make.
But when going over ruff ground, in low, and a little in high, under 10mph, you gcan hear a grinding, cracking sound almost like a bearing or joint tearing.
At higher speeds I don't hear this at all.
I checked the bike all over and everything seems find. the front axle's have a little play, but I hear this is normal. it sounds like its coming from somewhere in between the front strut and the belt cover????????
Do anyone else hear this sound when crawling over ruff , bumpy , hillly. ground? under 10 mph???
