Default 50 vs 90

I'm trying to decide between a scrambler 90 or a 50 for my kid. How much diference is there in speed, with limiters removed. The dealer said only a couple miles per hour but with twice as big a motor I thought it had to be more than that. I need it to last a couple years before they get bored with it so they can move up to my machine.

i bought a Scrambler50 in '01. it easily will cary parent and child up hills and all around the yard.

it is fast (for a 50) and i need to use the limiter or my kids might get hurt.

how old are your kids and how fast do YOU want them to go? use the age guideline that Polaris has.

the only thing i dislike about the 50 is the fact it's a 2-stroke. it's "buzzy" engine and never-ending blue smoke is annoying. it also got a poor review in ATV Magazine when compared to the other kids quads on the market. in fact, it's not a Polaris at all, just the fender plastic.

IF i were to do it over again, i'd pick a 4-stroke.

i think Yami just came out with 4-stroke kids quads and of course suzuki has had them for years.....as well as Honda!

good luck!

Well to answer your question yes there isnt a whole lot of difference stoke as far as speed capabilities cause its a two vs. four.....my llittle man has a 50 and my wife and daughter can ride it together.....son can pop wheeleies with it and even fat old dad can get it to cut donuts...the trick is have the inside of the exhaust restrictor ground out a bit....take the end cap off the exhaust and give it all the gas it can handle as far as the restrictor screw on the throttle and a 50 is better than a 90 .....well in alot of ways.....just my two cents worth take it as you will
