Default Cooling Fan

Well I guess the years of playin in the mud are catching up with my sportsman. I was out over the weekend and ended up overheating it. The cause was the radiator fan. I don't think I hurt the motor at all but I am checking it as well. I am in need of a fan motor I priced one thru my local dealer $200.00 which isn't that bad but does anyone know if these motors can be rewound or are they throw away motors. Another question is does anyone make a big bore kit for the 500HO if so could ya send me a link or just a name. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the help guys. How about the big bore kit? Does anyone make these or not? I have thought about and got the OK from the boss(wife) to get a new machine but I don't really have a need for one right now. I kinda want to trick this one a little bit before I get into the payment plan again. I just got the Bi-Claw\Tri-claw Magnums on it and a EPI BigFoot clutch kit I am looking for MORE power out of the motor. Thanks Again

Do a search in the polaris forum for 'cooling fans' and you will find that WELXA has a 1-800 # for a offroad place that has the fans for $77 delivered to the house. The fan is made by Spal. I purchased one last month and saved over $120.

Here is the information:

The fan part# is 30100515 (this is the fan # that Polaris changed to sometime in 2000, and is still currently using).
Keith (contact at offroadwarehouse)
800-341-7757 8-5 m-f PST (his phone and hours)
www.offroadwarehouse.com (this is the website, but doesn't list the above fan part#) It took quite a bit of searching to locate the fan part #, and he has to order it from Spal). I think the fan is around $80. Two different Polaris dealerships quoted from $150 to $230 (without tax) on the exact same fan. It comes with fan blade and all.

it's a mechanical problem, ALL dc motors use brushes that accumumulate build up. Before you spend the money for a new one try cleaning it.
