Default 2000 Xplor tie rod ends ?

Is anyone else having problems with this year(2000) xplor tie rod ends? I seem to be going through ends too often. I have heard that they changed the geometry of the steering on the 2001 . My friend has the 2001 and hasnt changed his yet and his front end is still as tight as new. We both have the same riding conditions. Replaced with epi ends and polaris upgraded ends. Any thoughts? Thanks

I have a 00 Xplorer also. I had one inner tie rod end that needed replaced at about 1500 mi and the rest had just enough movement that you could feel. I went ahead and changed them with the newer polaris ends. I've put about another 500 mi on and they are still good and tight , there is alot of rock on the western PA trails to abuse them. Some people have built their own and if you do a search for tie rod ends you will probably find all the info you need as fars as where to get the parts, cost, and tips.

I have found a place that sells 'extreme strength' tie rod ends that can be fitted to the Polaris Xplorer ( I have them on mine). The cost is within a few bucks of the Polaris ends, but you will need to pay shipping, and you will also need an adapter bushing to make it fit right, as the 'eye' is bigger than the hole in the strut. The bushing is available at the same place as the end, and costs something like 50 cents. You may also need bolts, which you can get anywhere. If you can't find my post in the archives that gives the phone # to call, and the part #s to order, reply back, and I will look them up for you. I currently have about 4500 miles on these tie rod ends, and they are still going.
I have replaced the outer ends with these. If you get a needle adapter for your grease gun, and work the needle under the rubber boot of the inner tie rod ends, and give each one a couple shots every time you grease the rest of the machine, the factory ones will last a LONG time.
