scrambler and xplorer ground clerance
#1
does a scambler and an xplorer have close to the same amount of axle ground clearence or not. I am wanting to know because my brother just got an xplorer and man it has a high ground clearence for a strait axle. My cousin and aunts boyfriend has new sportsmans with the independant rear end and they left huge ruts in our bottoms and I took my brothers xplorer down there just to see if the axle would hit and I don't think it did.

thanks everyone, now I have another question for everbody. my brothers xplorer right hub acted like it was locking up today. He was in the sloppy kind of mud and was doing doughnuts and his handlebars wouldn't go straight and when he did go it sounded like the chain was popping but it sounded like it was in the hub. So if you can help me with this please let me know what might be causeing this, also do the hubs have grease or oil in it. How do you check the hubs.
how do you know when to put more oil in when it's low.

Curlytop, the Polaris hubs use either Polaris hub fluid, or synthetic type F auto tranny fluid. Be SURE to use synthetic, or it can react with what is in there, and gum things up.
Fill to the 4 O'clock position with the fill hole.
The #1 reason for the hubs not working right, is old fluid, dirty fluid, or low fluid.
I recommend draining what is in there, re-filling, driving a little, and changing again.
If no fluid runs out, it may have run dry long enough to rough up a bearing or something. If the fluid just looks dirty, changing & flushing should help.
I THINK the Sportsmans had IRS in 1996, and went to CV joints in the rear axles in 1998, but don't quote me on that.
Also, with the same size tires, both the Scrammy & Xplorer have the same GC, but the Xplorer comes with taller tires/wheels.
