Well, assuming all are the same as my 03, just loosen up the 4 bolts that clamp the axle in place and use the big wrench supplied in the tool kit, or whatever you have available, and rotate the axle to adjust the tension. The clamping surface is eccentric to the axle so it has a cam effect. Good luck.

Easier than using the spanner wrench is to put a punch pin in the small hole in the axle housing so it locks it down and then roll the quad back to tighten it and roll it forward to loosen it (use something very stout, I broke a cheapo screwdriver in mine.....but you still have to loosen the bolts mentioned above and you must be careful when tightening them back up (torque the eccentric bolts to 30ft/lbs and the brake caliper bolt to 12ft/lbs (I think)).....if you overtighten you may cause premature bearing damage.
Also, you can only move the axle back until it hits the stops on the housing....then you have to turn it forwards and start from scratch....
Good Luck.....if you have any other probs just post on here....someone will know..

You can get a service manual from your dealer or from pure polaris Also, you can get a chain chain tensionor from HPD and you wont have to worry about it getting loose again. If it is the original chain then it definately may be time to get a new one
