Default Can't get my '93 Trail Boss 250 to wheelie...

All stock except for Wiseco piston.
I sit on the back of the seat and pull hard, and nothing. Am I doing something wrong or the Trail Boss just can't wheelie?
If some cheap mods can fix it I would like to hear about them.

thanks

I had the same problem. Bought a Sport 400, problem solved. Much more fun, also!

Actually, if you look into it, it might be. If your 250 is in good shape you should be able to get $1500 for it. If you shop around, you should be able to find a nice 400 for $2k. You'll triple the fun and get liquid cooling to boot!

You could place a knee on the seat and your foot on the grab handle, hold the brake (front) a hit the gas and when it starts to move hammer it and let go of the brake and lean back pulling on the handle bars....it will come up. Practice a few times before you plan on staying on the gas for any length of time. Mine would drift to the left and I tried to make it go straight but would not so I added a pound of air in the left tire and now it goes straight. You do not want it to get to far out of balance and let it come down, it will yank you off of the seat......I learned this leason a long time ago on a dirt bike, kinda like high siding it.
I now have a Hotseat kit so I dont need to place a knee on the seat.

Good luck

I forgot to mention, I live in Israel, prices are diffrent. You can get 2 250s for the price of one 400 from the same year.

I'll try what Russ said, sounds like it will work.

That would make things a little different. The cheapest thing you could do is change your primary clutch spring so that it revs higher before engaging. That will help jerk the front up.

I would have to agree that the cheapest would be the primary spring change. You would be almost to the power band before in-gauging.

Did you try the knee on the seat? The very last resort would be change the spring, it makes riding around the house, hills kinda painful, you have to rev it up before it will in-guage, it is like reving up you car and dropping the clutch.

The Polaris machines are heavy, they are not good for wheelies.

If you are still interested let us know, I am sure we could find you the spring and instructions on how to change it.
