Whats Up With My Trailtech??
#1
every time i go for a ride now my trailtech magnet thing falls off. i tryed to use locktight and even let it sit over night and it still fell off. usually i recover them cuz they stick to the brake. but any suggestions to make it stick in there?? maybe the reading thing is to close and making it fall off??

HotSeatFan,
I used the JB weld on mine and it holds great. As a matter of fact, the only problem I've ever had with mine was the magnet losing it's polarization (i.e., no longer magnetized) and I have had to replace it with another one. Only the damn thing was on so good, It wouldn't come off!!! So I had to put another one on with JB weld on the opposite side of the rotor. When I called Trail Tech they said this can happen when you get your brakes hot often from hard riding. They actually sent me a bag with 6 or 7 additional magnets at no extra cost.
here is what you do, get you some 2 part epoxy or JB weld from any auto parts store.
find your alignment with the Trail Tech pickup and magnet on the strut and rotor.
make sure the magnet doesn't touch the brake caliper or the pickup in the location you are using as the wheel is spinning around.
mix your epoxy and apply to the location on the rotor you determined for your magnet placement, it only takes a small drop.
set your magnet in the epoxy, do so quickly as it will set up pretty fast.
give it a good press into the epoxy so that it sets flat and the expoxy kind of "squishes" out from under it and settles around the sides.
roll your quad forward and back to verify that your magnet is in a good position to be read by the TT pickup.
let it set overnight.
viola! your new magnet ain't going anywhere. I've had mine buried in mud and submerged in creeks literally for hours with no problems (other than the lost polarization on one magnet mentioned above).
2000IAWarrior, I think what your talking about only works when you have one of the rotor screws with the magnet. Unfortunately, they don't make one of those for the scrambler or trailblazer. We have to epoxy them directly to the rotor.

I simply called them and told them of my delima (my magnet no longer working) and she said "yea, that sometimes happens when the rotor gets real hot" and offered to send me more in case it happened again.
They seem to actually care that you are happy. I'm not sure of why you would need more if your magnet is working but give them a call if it is a concern.
