CYCLONE JETTING!
#2
Did you just recently acquire that machine?I am about 2 months into mine. jet needle factory is a 6dh5,3rd groove from the top clip position,pilot#40,main#200.Be sure to use at least 88 octane. That's what is called for.I've taken mine .040 over and just about mirror polished the exhaust port.Next I am going to shave the head.I am looking for an after market pipe and possibly a 42mm tmx flat slide. The cyclone has this removable bolt in the bottom of the silencer that makes it loud and powerful.I just forgot what it was called.

I just measured mine and it's a mikuni 38mm thats jetted down. Why I don't know but thats what it is!
AEEN performance has a custom built exhaust for the cyclone. It is the most powerful stock 250 polaris made at over 30hp.I have yet to find out actual power gains but will find out tomorrow morning. If you're interested I'll keep you informed.

I have a cyclone too,on mine I have a aanes pipe, k&n air filter, wesco pistion, 20,000 off the head, polished exhaust port, I all so cleaned up the other ports and shaved off the casting marks and I just bought a carb for it I think it's a 38mm I cant think of it right now. But let me tell you what that thing gets it. I can pull a wheely on it with no problem with the stock cluch.

Both of my old cyclones had 190 mains. They tend to flood if you don't stay up in the power band. It helped to back out the pilot 3/4 turn. Had to do this, the power band kick in scared my wife too much so she just putted around below the power band and kept flooding the thing out. I used a splitfire plug and that really did give it a boost as well.

I think I am going to make an adapter to fit a reed cage from a banshee to mine I've read that I can get about3to4 more horse by doing this. Not sure but why not?Aeen's stage 2 kit takes the tb 250 up to almost mach the cyclone. So, if they can get 22hp or more why can't we?When I get done I definately am going to Dyno this thing.I will post the true numbers in the future.

I have cylinders for a Cyclone and an RES. The Cyclone was put out in 1987 and the RES 1988. A Polaris tech rep told me years ago that the RES was putting out more HP than the Cyclone but it got hot and you had to have a fan to keep it cool. Has anyone compared the two? I want to put an engine together someday and have wondered which would be the better combo.

The cyclone cylinder was the one that got hot and "wore" itself out.It tipped the dyno's at 32hp.Which aeen claims is the highest polaris built out of a 250cc single. The cyclone is no joke.Think about it.On aeen's website you have to goto their stage 2 or 3 to get equivalent horsepower to the cyclone stock. But, you don't seem to have the heat build up that I am trying to cure.I have some ideas that I think are really going to work!
