New guy with a question on sp600
Well met all. Got my first atv(2003 SP600) a couple of weeks ago and am real pumped cuz now I have something to ride in the summer. I am a snowmobiler and would get real bummed out as the snow melted.
Now my question/concern. I was riding yesterday and pulled of the trail, and as soon as I took my thumb of the throttle the machine stalled. I had some minor trouble getting it going again, had to use some thumb on the gas(more than should have been required). Then it ran fine for about 10 more mins then same thing happened again, thumb of gas while stopped and a stall. The machine has now only 21 miles. My idle speed is 1100rpm I set that the night before. Temp was 50degF . Any ideas ?
Other than that and the noise (clutches and motor at idle) I love this thing.
Thanks.

Adjusting the idle speed will affect throttle cable freeplay and the electronic throttle control (ETC) adjustment. Make sure the the throttle cable freeplay is adjusted right. You should have 1/16" -1/8" freeplay. Did you adjust your idle using the cable or the carburator idle screw?

Thanks GE 4x4, I took the top off the ETC and there was at best a 1/32" gap between the contacs. I could kill it by nudging the throttle cable. I adjusted said cable to just about 1/16" free play and that split the contacs nicely. Looking at the ETC I new that was what did it. problem solved in about 5 minutes.
Thanks Again.
Thanks Again.
