clover,
What was said about the new model for '04? Did they mention anything about release dates....Spring '04, Summer 04? I'm going to be getting an ATV pretty soon and although my choices have been bouncing around for potential purchases, I am currently narrowed down to either the Prairie 700, or the Sportsman 700 in the Sport Utility category. If I knew Polaris was in fact working on a new big bore rig I would hold off for a bit.
An 800 Twin, 100 lbs lighter than the 700SP, 4-wheel engine braking and falling somewhere between a Utility and the sportier Scrambler........Hmmmmm........Now that would be a nice rig Let's call it the Polaris 800 Viper. Sorry guys, just dreaming a little bit...lol

my question is...why would they make an 800! the 700 is plenty big as it is and they have to detune them so they meet regulations and all that good stuff...so why make something that will only performe slightly better then the 700?

Good point MnFriesen. There's no question that there would be people who would be buying the 800's, 900's, or whatever the case may be, but the question is...just how big of a market would it be? I can remember a time when a 500cc or even a 440cc was a big snowmobile. Now we have 900's and even 1000's out there and they are selling well. However, it's hard to compare a low slung snowmobile to a 4WD ATV. In the offroad conditions that the 4WD utility ATV's are driven in, bigger and more powerful is not always better. Depending on the type of riding that you do, excess power can work against you.

The reason for the 800 is because they have an 800 EFI snowmobile motor that would fit just nice in that Sportsman frame! So thats what people are saying is gonna be next..a fuel injected 800cc motor. No idea on weight..prob heavy..but still..what a bike!

The 800cc EFI is correct. The only reason I say this is because I have recieved a survey that asked many questioned around my needs for a fuel injected quad. Some of the questions asked about having a built in generator hmmm? Also I have heard that the same firm that registered the Predator site has done another for Polaris.
