Recently purchased a 1300psi pressure washer to clean my 350 Yamaha and my wifes 250 Trail Boss. What areas of the machines should I be carefull around? I know that the chain on the Trail Boss is prone to water damage from high pressure washes as well as any electrical component. I'm sure that many people use these machines for claening their ATV and I would like some feedback as to their effectiveness. Thanks in advance!

I use a 1400 psi washer on both of mine. Like you said, becareful of the chain. Go easy around the carb and becareful around any grease or oil seals and the electrical switches on the handlebars. They work great for cleaning the plastic and might even take off the warning/idiot decals.

I don't recommend spraying the motor at all with the pressure washer.

Only my blaster every time, i get water in my stator cover. And at won't run! I'm using a 2,500 one though..

Well I use a pressure washer to clean my honda and my Yamaha, i forget the PSI (its my neighbors)
But its strong! i put my hand in front of it once (not close) and it hurt A LOT! so its pretty strong, jsut take my word. back to my story, only thing i am carefull about is Decals everything else i spray to death! engine carb up close and all and starts right up in one quik push of the starter (granted it is a Honda) but my Yamahauler does same thing

So spray away... i do never have a problem

I use a 3200 psi pressure washer and blast everything except the exhaust outlet and the PVT intake. Never had any problems yet.

I too have sprayed the hell out of mine. We have a generac w/ a honda engine (2200psi) I blast the hell out of everything but when spraying under the hood and on the electrical components on the handlebars, I use the fan spray which is adjustable at the end of the washer gun.

About a month ago I accidently sprayed the graphic off the side of my scrambler and just got new ones. Be careful around the graphics. Everything else gets nailed.

As you said, do stay clear of the chain. Polaris quads have o-ring chains. The high pressure can blow out the o-ring, and we all know what happens then.

I recommend pressure washing, really hard, right in the motor, with very cold water right after a hard ride! You Polaris fans!

Mork I use the pressure washer at the car wash. (I don't know what the pressure is there) But I spray everything including electrical. The difference is I have the motor running while I do it. (also I don't spray electrical full on, just to clean it off)

I think we could guess that RideRecon has had his a$$ wooped one too many times by Polaris. His incredibly informative and intelligent post must be his way of getting back at the Polaris riders!
