Default 400 or 500

Gonna get a Scrambler but having a hard time deciding on a 400 or 500! I mostly trail ride and I already have a sportsman 500 so 4 wheel drive is not really needed. I would really like to know just how much difference there is in the pick up of the two, I know the 400 is quicker but just how much?Ride with some guys with honda 400's and would really like to show them up! lol Any insight would help!

The 500s from my expierence are a little quicker out of the box, but that stops out of the box. The 400 has huge aftermarket potential and is lighter stock (which is never a bad thing). Both quads are fairly quick and reliable. I love my 400. There is a noticable difference in throttle response (500 having more) but the 400 still stays with it. On my 400X the 500 beats it on top end but I can easily grabs the holeshot with the 400. So if your willing to spend money on aftermarket stuff the 400 is deffinetly the way to go. If not then its up to you to decide.

Both are great machines. If you want to show up those ex boys get the 400 and a pipe-clutch kit and you'll see their mouths hang open.
