scrambler airbox mods

There is a noticeable difference in low end and throttle response. Crack the throttle and she goes. Although I find myself just spinning out more than accelerating I uploaded some pictures of the air box mod You can get a good idea of what it will look like. A dremmel does a good job of opening up the lid for the new scoop. You will also need to pop rivit it and silicone the scoop on. The new scoop lets a LOT more air in, as well as more dirt and water. As long as you have an Outerwears you will be find. You just may have to clean it and the filter more often. The carb mods are really easy. It comes with a new 170 main jet. As well as a new needle tube (?) and spring. That can actually be done with the carb on the machine. Just take the top of and everything just comes right out. You will have to remove the carb to do the main jet. But if you already have the HPD pipe then you already have experience with that

It is worth the money, it allows the engine to really breath and with the carb mods it is fun to goose the throttle. the new needle tube is modified from stock even though they look the same. but that 170 main jet makes the motor scream. you won't be disappointed!

I did install a new 160 jet with the power maxx exhaust, good thing I had a friend there who had done this before. I would never have known where the fuel adjustment screw was. We drilled the plug out to get to the ajustment screw. The instructions didn't say anything about having to do that. Is it a must to change the main jet again with the airbox mod?

Yes, you have to change the main jet. With the added air you need more fuel. You will also have to adjust the air fuel screw again. You are correct about the instructions though. The instructions with the exhaust never said that you have to drill the plug out, even though you do (unless it is already gone), but the instructions with the air box mod do tell you to drill the plug out. The even provide the drill bit and screw to extract the plug! Go figure!!

Thanks BigBad!!! You know I have to do it. I have the need for speed bad. I want so bad to run at least even with the stock kfx 700. The point to that is, I'll still have less money in mine. $5199.00 new plus $570.00 in mods.

Just a note, right from Olaf Aaen's mouth. " Do not modify the airbox on a Scrambler with a stock carb. It is a cvm carb with a vaccum drawn slide. You will lose vaccum pressure needed to move the slide." I don't know of any better way to put it. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but you could also make the performance worse.
