Default which to buy ?

I have enough money to buy a used 2002 sportsman 700 or to put down on a new sportsman 500 ho. Now here are the issuses. the 700, big, bad, and its a 700.. what more do I say. The 5oo, more than likely has all the power I will ever need, and it's new ..

But the new 04.5 500 all the new improvements and about 100 lbs lighter. Rode both and went with the 500. the twin sounds cool and runs well but I just didn't like the idea of almost 700 lbs. Plus I think if you search these forums you will here about some of the troubles with the 02 700's. ultimately it is your choice, you need to buy the best machine for your needs. just my .02 worth.

Hey bro there is alot more mods out there for a 500 too. Go with the 500 cause dont know how well the used one was maintained either.

The 700's the more capable machine, no doubt. What kind of condition is it in? how many miles? is it from a dealer who will back up the sale?
The 02's had some issue's like coolant leaks, most likely those have been addressed on this 700 if it was maintained well. At least you won't need to buy new tires if you buy the 700, I wounldn't want the turf tire's on the 04.5 500. Save another $500 or soo and buy a new 600 - you'll get almost the same performance as the 700(although tire's are still a problem).

The 700 has about 1000 miles on it, the owner said there was leak but that was takes care of. He has never taken it out " mud bogging". He needs the money to go back to school.. I am going to take a look at it on tues. Thank you for your responces..

I would go with the 500. You will be worry free with the new machine. You could have headaches with the used one you never know. Then you would end up sinking money in that 700 to get fixed.
